My name is Martin Eckstein and I am an Alchemist.

I am blessed to work within the game of sales (bidding) for over 30 years. Working across all bid roles, from Proposal Assistant to Bid Director. I have successfully worked deals from £50k through to £3bn. Often managing multiple bids, I know that the same focus and passion to win is key to each.

Bidding has also enabled me to travel the world, managing bids and presales environments across UK, Europe, Australia, Asia and USA. The game of sales remains the same, how you need to play may differ.

This has provided me the opportunity to work across different customer sectors, from Defence, Government (Local, State and Central) and the Private Sector. These extents to working across the range of buying methods, from tenders, competitive dialogue, negotiated procurements, PFI and PPP.

I love the ability to continually learn, and I use this to develop tools, methods and techniques to enable more effective and efficient bidding. These I apply, as appropriate, to each bid I engage with.

​

I am eager to share my acumen to others in the world of sales and presales. I do this by publishing guides and tools, providing coaching and mentoring and delivering learning events.

​

Keen to increase the professionalism and enjoyment of the world of bids, I am active in supporting other Bid Professionals and whilst working in India, I sat on the board of the APMP (Bid Management Professional Body) to grow the learning and support of Bid Professionals.

​

Within organisations, I have led presales teams, developing and delivering the Best Practices. This includes building the presales offshore environment for a global organisation where each bid activity is delivered as a service with appropriate measures to ensure success. Whilst leading teams, I remain active and hands-on with bids.

​

Working freelance, I ensure that I leave the organisation better equipped for future bids, by developing members of the team and providing improved best practices and tooling, appropriate to their environment.

​

Whilst winning good deals is my key responsibility, I believe that I also need to increase the motivation and acumen of those I am working with (who also do the same for me). Happy bid teams win more deals.
